15 Sep – Over the weekend (Sept 10-13), the U.S. box office saw Tyler Perry's comedy "I Can Do Bad All By Myself" laughing its way to the top with a total gross of US$23.4 million. According to Box Office Mojo, it was the third highest-grossing debut for a Tyler Perry movie and a new high for one of his Fall releases, topping "The Family That Preys" and "Why Did I Get Married?" Debuting in second is the post-apocalyptic animation "9" starring Elijah Wood, which took US$10.7 million. While in third, latest horror remake "Sorority Row" was perhaps the most startling failure of the weekend as it grabbed a mere US$5.1 million, despite being heavily promoted.

Singaporean filmmaker Jack Neo's hor-medy "Where Got Ghost?" took the top spot on opening weekend in Malaysia, kicking off the two week chart topper "The Final Destination" from its resting place to second. "300" star Gerard Butler released two films of different genres last Thursday, action thriller "Gamer" and rom-com "The Ugly Truth". With regards to that, "Gamer" showed that audiences preferred to see Gerard Butler as an actioner, positioning the film in third and leaving "The Ugly Truth" in fourth.

Singapore's chart topper, Disney's "G-Force" managed to remain at the top for two consecutive weeks. However, it will be faced with tough competition this weekend as Quentin Tarantino's war film "Inglourious Basterds" and Henry Selick's dark animation "Coraline" will screen in cinemas this 17 September.
